Badshot Lea lifted the Aldershot Divisional Football Association (ADFA) Saturday Senior Cup defeating Woking based Isthmian League South Central side Westfield 2-0. The match was played at the home of National League club Aldershot Town. The promoted Combined Counties League side took control of the match after the 57th minute dismissal of Westfield’s Jonathan Sanchez. A penalty on 67 minutes saw Mal Thomas’s initial effort excellently saved before he converted the rebound. 10 minutes later Thomas’ deep corner was met by George Frise who struck the ball into the roof of the net. Despite a late Westfield rally including a fine save on the line from Craig Bradshaw it was the Baggies who collected the trophy from ADFA President Thura Win JP and Cup competition Secretary Richard Whittington for the first time since 2011. Badshot’s Kane Fitzgerald was voted Player of the Match.
