Cup victory for Whitehill & Bordon
The second final of the day at the EBB stadium saw Whitehill & Bordon take on Rushmoor Community for the Mark Coombs Cup. The first half saw a few chances for both sides but approached half time without score. Then in the dying seconds of additional time Cameron Rowthorn beat the offside trap to beat the keeper in a one on one to open the scoring for Rushmoor Community.
It was to be only nine minutes into the second half before Shayne Warren equalised for Whitehill & Bordon with a looping shot after the keeper had saved, and then just five minutes later a strike from Ciaran Judd took them into a 2-1 lead. That lead however only lasted a minute as Rushmoor’s Jake Hicks equalised on the hour.
Despite plenty of chances for both sides, there were no further goals and the game ended with the score level at 2-2. Penalties loomed!
