Aldershot DFA 20 year award – Nigel Welch

The Chair of the Aldershot DFA, Mike Gardner, presented a Long Service (minimum 20 years) Award to Nigel Welch recently. Nigel has been involved in a variety of roles with Wey Valley FC since season 1993/94. He originally started with his son at the then named Alexandra Colts and soon started running the Under 7’s team. During this period of involvement he has also held the following posts – Youth team Manager, Open Age team manager, Coach (girls, women, boys & men), Secretary, Treasurer, Chairman, Welfare Officer and President. In addition he is also Chair of the North East Hampshire Youth League (NEHYL); taking over from Paul Spooner in 2019. Since 2008 he has also covered the role as League Treasurer too. Nigel has also represented the Aldershot and District Saturday Football League and NEHYL on the Aldershot DFA Council since 2016. In addition he was a Hampshire FA council Member between 2010 and 2012. Nigel has provided outstanding service to local football and is a worthy recipient of the award.
