20 Year Service Award – Roger Pierce

The Aldershot DFA were in attendance at Farnborough FC on Tuesday evening to make a presentation at the Emirates FA Cup second qualifying round tie at home to Metropolitan Police. Prior to the match ROGER PIERCE was presented with his “20 Years’ Service to Football in the Aldershot Divisional Football Association Area”.

Roger commenced his involvement in local football in 1978 where he spent 12 years managing through the junior and youth teams at Grange FC (Ash).

In August 1990 he became involved with Farnborough Town FC commencing an association that has now spanned over 30 years including with the re-formed Farnborough FC. In a variety of behind the scenes roles Roger is best known for his time as Kit Manager where he served until 2019. He commented, “I was asked to cover the kitman for a week while he was on holiday. He never came back so I carried on for the next 20 years until I retired”.  Even now Roger remains heavily involved with the club and now works in the Burger Bar with his wife on match days and still attends the club most days in a supportive capacity.

Aldershot DFA Council member and former Chairman John Marchment said, “Whilst using the Farnborough FC facilities for some of our cup finals in 2020 we came across Roger and witnessed some of the work that he does. He is an excellent example of a great club servant.”

Roger was presented his award by current Aldershot DFA Chairman Mike Gardner alongside another long serving stalwart of Farnborough FC, Garry Ward.
